Assetto Corsa - track modding Slovak Už sú to viac ako dva roky, keď som písal o možnostiach virtuálneho závodenia na PC a presne rok, od kedy tvorím vlastnú trať do hry Assetto Corsa. Táto hra ani nebola spomenutá v mojom článku, takže nazačiatok by sme si mohli povedať niečo aj o nej.

English It’s been more than two years since I wrote about the possibilities of virtual racing on PC and it’s exactly one year since I started to work on my own track for the game Assetto Corsa. This game wasn’t mentioned in my original article, so I could talk about it now.


Slovak Kunos Simulazioni – napriek tomu, že na Steame ponúkajú jednu hru, nie sú tu vôbec začiatočníci a na konte majú toho viac. Medzi ich najznámejšie tituly patria NetKar Pro z roku 2006 a Ferrari Virtual Academy z roku 2010.

Hra, ako už býva štandardom, ponúka celú škálu áut, či už historické, cestné alebo pretekárske špeciály. Laserom skenované trate by mali byť zárukou dokonalej presnosti a vernosti tratí. Prvý krát v histórii počítačových hier bola táto technológia použitá na Nurburgring-Nordschleife, ktorú síce Kunos Simulazioni neponúkajú v základnom balíčku hry, ale až v prídavnom DLC “Dream Pack 1“. Už podľa číslovky v jeho názve môžme očakávať v budúcnosti i ďalšie prídavky áut a tratí. To najpodstatnejšie a najväčšia výhoda oproti konkurecii je však v modovateľnosti. Kunos dodávaju priamo k hre editor, ktorým sa dajú previesť vaše vlastné výtvory do ich hry. A práve vďaka tejto jednoduchosti a priamej podpore i na oficiálnom fóre hry je veľmi jednoduché s modovaním hry začať.

Čo je to vlastne to “modovanie”? Je to úprava alebo pridávanie obsahu do hry. Tým obsahom sa v našom prípade myslia trate a autá. A tým sme sa dostali k podstate nášho článku – vlastná trať. Inšpiroval som sa skutočnými cestami v mojom meste. Boli samozrejme upravené aby vyhovovali závodeniu áut. Odstránené obrubníky, križovatky, semafory a lampy z blízkosti cesty. Má po celej dĺžke dostatočmú šírku aby bolo umožnené bezpečné obiehanie až 24 oponentom, či už v single alebo multiplayeri. Všetky budovy v okolí trate sú, alebo ešte len budú vymodelované podľa ich skutočných predlôh a ich umiestnenie zodpovedá realite.

English Kunos Simulazioni – even though they are offering only one title on Steam, they are far off from being some rookies. They have created such titles as NetKar Pro from year 2006 or the Ferrari Virtual Academy from year 2010.

As usual, the game offers a wide range of cars – historical, road or even racing specials. Laser scanned tracks should be a guarantee of accurate and authentic driving experience. This technology was used for the first time in gaming history on Nurburgring-Nordschleife track. Kunos Simulazioni didn’t include this track in the basic game, but you can find it in the additional DLC “Dream Pack 1“. As the number indicates, there should be more DLCs offering new cars and tracks in the future. The most important and greatest advantage compared to other titles is the moddability of the game. Kunos directly included an editor into the game, in which you can design your own creations. This kind of integration and official support (even on the official forums of the game) makes it quite easy to create your own mods.

What is modding you ask? It’s editing or adding of content in a game. It this case it’s cars or tracks. And this brings us to the core of this article – my own track. It is inspired by real roads in a certain slovak city. I’ve made some necessary modifications so the track would be suitable for racing. The track is wide enough to allow safe overtaking and certain objects have been removed – like curbs, crossroads lights or lamp posts too close to the road. All buildings on the track, as well their placement, are and will be modeled after real life objects.
